Fundraiser Announced For Families Of El Paso Shooting Victims

Copious Love Productions is thrilled to partner with local artist/activists Ana Maria Campoy and Sofía Raquel Sánchez to produce two play readings of Just Like Us by Karen Zacharias at Solo Bar Monday September 9th and Copious Wednesday September 11th.

Both of these events will include live music and performance beforehand, and a conversation with local activists after the play reading. All donations and ticket sales will go to the El Paso Community Fund. These readings feature two separate casts of local Latinx actors.

These readings will be directed by Ana Maria Campoy. Campoy says, "Latinx people and immigrants have endured hateful political rhetoric, separation of families, the caging of children, and hate crimes at the hands of white supremacy and this administration. In response to the shooting in El Paso, the artistic Seattle community wants to hold space for our Latinx artists, uplift their community, show them support and love, and incite action in allies. The event will fundraise money for El Paso, while having a conversation about how the Seattle community can advocate, protect, and better support the city's immigrant and Latinx community."

Founded in 2010 by Chelsea Madsen, Lacy and Tony Gavilanes, Copious Love Productions is a performing arts company focused on cultivating original works. Artistic Director Kathryn Stewart joined in early 2019 to build on this vision in hopes of creating a safe artistic space for Seattle artists and amplifying traditionally marginalized voices through storytelling, opportunity and support.

The Solo Bar is contemporary, comfortable bar serving a light, eclectic menu that includes sandwiches and creative appetizers. Please arrive early, place your drink and/or food orders in advance so you and the other patrons can relax and enjoy this exciting new work.

Copious is a historic Ballard venue that has live programming six nights a week. Copious exists for audiences and artists who want to workshop, test, play, and explore the abundance of performing arts in the Seattle scene. This is a safe space for arts of all kinds with events that support creatives and opportunities to cultivate our performing arts community.
