For the thirteenth year in a row Seattle Men's Chorus and Seattle Women's Chorus will present a FREE concert for Seattle-area children and their families. And for the third year in a row, Village Theatre's arts education program KIDSTAGE will join in. Approximately 20 of the KIDSTAGE kids (ages 11-19) will join the Choruses on stage and experience the thrill of performing at a glorious live concert event, to an audience of thousands, with two of the nation's largest and most respected choruses at their backs. This one-time only performance is a FREE one-hour matinee on Saturday March 31, 2012 at Seattle's magnificent McCaw Hall.

Prior to the concert, KIDSTAGE is offering FREE 30-minute hands-on workshops, taught by Village Theatre KIDSTAGE instructors. There will be two sessions from 1:00-1:30pm and from 1:30-2:00pm for kids K-5. Sessions will be in McCaw Hall's upper lobby, Norcliffe and Allen event rooms. Reservations are required by calling (206) 388-1400.

Immediately following the free workshops, the concert will begin in the main hall. The Choruses will bring a non-stop hour of music featuring songs of The Beatles: "Hey Jude," "We All Live in a Yellow Submarine," "When I'm 64;" Pink's "So What;" and "The Shoop Shoop Song;" while showcasing some of the outstanding young talent from KIDSTAGE performing songs from Hairspray and Seussical The Musical. The performance is pumped full of silly costumes, laughter, and smiles and reminds audiences that equality and acceptance are important messages to people of all ages. Audience participation is definitely on the menu, and everyone leaves with a pack of crayons and coloring book for the trip home!

Artistic Director Dennis Coleman, explained, "The annual Children's Concert gives kids a concert hall experience and an introduction to music that is both fun and entertaining. But equally important is that it provides an opportunity for LGBT families to share safe, enjoyable performance experience together."

The children's concert is presented thanks to the generosity of long-time Chorus supporters Debbie Killinger, Jeffrey Sutherland, and Michael Theisen and Ronald Jones. Tickets are free for this concert, but must be requested in advance by calling the box office or ordering online. There is a limit of 10 tickets per household. Festival seating.
