Taproot Theatre Company gets a blast from the past at Corsets and Comedy, a special afternoon tea event where costumes are encouraged! On May 22, Taproot Theatre hosts a pre-show tea with special guest Sarah Burch Gordon, who will talk about costuming for the stage. Gordon has designed costumes for over 50 productions across the country. A matinee performance of Charley's Aunt follows. Costumes are encouraged-especially Victorian, Edwardian and Titanic eras. Tea will be served at 12:45 p.m. at Taproot Theatre; the performance begins at 2 p.m. The tea is hosted with Somewhere in Time, Unlimited.

Seating for the tea is limited, and seating must be reserved in advance by calling Taproot Theatre's box office at (206) 781-9707. Tickets are just $27-29 for the performance, plus $5 for the tea. Charley's Aunt, by Brandon Thomas, follows two college chums who try to arrange a date with their sweethearts. All sorts of mischief and shenanigans ensue when their aunt (and chaperone) doesn't appear. Their romantic afternoon luncheon hinges on a third classmate's willingness-and ability-to impersonate her. This hilarious classic has been delighting audiences for over 100 years. Charley's Aunt runs May 12-June 12.
