Brian Yorkey, Salzman & Cunningham and More to Develop New Musicals at Running Deer Musical Theater Lab

By:

Trout Lake, Washington. Running Deer Musical Theater Lab is hosting a series of week long new musical development labs this summer. Participating writers include Brian Yorkey, Nick Blaemire, Matthew Gardiner, Michael Kooman, Christopher Dimond, Tim Symons, Melanie Burgess, Bobby Cronin and Wade Dooley.

Additionally, through a partnership with the American Theater Wing and the Jonathan Larson Foundation, winners Joshua Salzman and Ryan Cunningham were awarded a hosted stay at the lab.

Running Deer Musical Theater Lab was founded in 2010 by two-time Tony Award winning Broadway producer Brisa Trinchero (Pippin, The Gershwin's Porgy & Bess).

Some of the past participants and shows that have gone on to further development and/or major productions include, Hunter Bell and the Story Pirates (Found), Marcy Heisler & Zina Goldrich (Screaming Like A Fool), Marc Acito & Jeffrey Stock (A Room With A View), Michael Mahler & William Donnelly, Gabriel Kahane & Seth Bockley (February House).

Running Deer Ranch, nestled on 84 acres in Trout Lake, Washington at the foot of Mt. Adams, provides a spectacular and inspirational setting for developing new musicals. Writers are provided a private cabin, pianos, three prepared meals a day, use of a theater and the ability to work free from scrutiny and distraction.

Running Deer Musical Theater lab works closely with producers and theater companies to identify projects and writers that could benefit from a week of intensive development. Participation is by invitation only and is provided free of charge.
