Bill Nye The Science Guy Brings A Spirited Conversation To Seattle

Bill Nye the Science Guy brings his energetic-and inspiring-show to Seattle in May to celebrate the 40th Eruptiversary of Mount St. Helens and support the Mount St. Helens Institute. Bill Nye Live 2020 comes to The Moore Theater on Saturday, May 16, 2020 7:30 p.m. with an interactive conversation rooted in science. Tickets are available now for purchase.

A New York Times bestselling author, Nye issues a call to arms meant to rouse everyone to become the change they want to see in the world. Whether addressing global warming, social change, or personal success, there are certain strategies that always get results: looking at the world with radical curiosity, being driven by a desire for a better future, and being willing to take the actions-and make choices political and otherwise-needed to make change a reality. Guests can also expect:

  • Nye's 'take' on current issues in 2020
  • Energetic Q&A with OPB editors
  • Impromptu surprises only Bill Nye can dish up!

An avid supporter of the Mount St. Helens National Monument, Nye is a founding board member of the Mount St. Helens Institute and a stalwart champion of their mission to advance understanding and stewardship of the Earth through science, education and exploration of volcanic landscapes. The Institute connects people of all ages to Mount St. Helens and the natural world through educational programming, guided exploration and meaningful volunteer activities designed to enrich visitors' appreciation and understanding of the Pacific Northwest's youngest and most active volcano.

Nye leads a compelling conversation about science, climate change, and how we can all work together to move mountains. He will engage the audience and answer questions in a mission to make science fun, approachable, interesting and engaging. All proceeds from the show benefit the Mount St. Helens Institute.

"We welcome Bill Nye to the Pacific Northwest to further discussions and education on how we fit into the world around us and of course as related to Mount St. Helens-we are so grateful for his commitment and contributions to our causes," says Ray Yurkewycz, executive director, Mount St. Helens Institute. "We join with Bill in a common mission to generate more awareness about the importance of science and the meaningful work going on at the volcano-there are so many ways for the community to get involved in our numerous science, education and stewardship programs, especially during this 40th Eruptiversary year. We welcome you!"

Bill Nye is an American science communicator, television presenter, and mechanical engineer. He is best known as the host of the PBS children's science show Bill Nye the Science Guy (1993-1998), Science Rules! with Bill Nye podcast, and for his many appearances in popular media as a science educator.
