EMERALD CITY BACKWARDS Hits Seattle's Triple Door On Monday, March 25

Unite Live and Celadon Productions bring a Broadway tradition to a local level with "Emerald City Backwards, " at the Triple Door on Monday, March 25.

Begun as a grassroots concert in 2006, the gender-bending "Broadway Backwards," which has raised millions of dollars for Broadway Cares and New York City's LGBT Community Center, is an annual celebration where men sing great songs of musical theatre originally written for women and vice versa.

The Northwest version, inspired from the original,  will feature favorite performers from the Seattle and Portland theater communities and the comic show tune stylings of Jeffrey Johns, who will serve as emcee for the evening and is famous for writing and starring in two "Waiting in the Wings" films. Director MK Scott, Seattle choreographer Matthew Lang, and Grammy-nominated music director Phillip Peterson round out the production's team.

Proceeds will benefit the newly created Unite Arts Fund, a nonprofit that will promote and raise funds for local performing artists. The production is also aiming to raise $5,000 via GoFundMe at www.gofundme.com/unite-live-2019.
