Arouet Presents THE FIERCE URGENCY OF NOW, 11/07-22
Arouet's THE FIERCE URGENCY OF NOW is set in the fast-paced world of advertising, where priorities are skewed, everything is needed yesterday, and relationships are on constantly shifting ground, the young art director Kyle finds an unexpected ally in the much older Dodo, a copywriter who's been in the business since the "Mad Men" era. The Fierce Urgency of Now is a comedy about love, loss, and how to take off and soar after landing a plane in a cornfield.
The cast features the talents of Laura Crouch as Dodo, Kelly Johnson as Meryl, Evan Louis Thomas as Kyle, Lisa Viertel as Kate, and Mark Waldstein as Neil. Full cast biographies at http://arouet.us/news/cast-and-crew-of-the-fierce-urgency-of-now/
Directed by Arouet Artistic Director Roy Arauz, the artistic team also includes Renee Cyr as Assistant Director, Zack Brink as Lighting Designer, John Epperson as Sound Designer, Nicholas Giacalone as Costume Designer, and Kim Rosin as Set Designer. The production is stage managed by Zach Sanders.
Doug DeVita's play Just A Rumor (co-written with Gary Lyons) was a semi-finalist at the Eugene O'Neil Playwright's Conference and had developmental readings at New York's Abingdon Theatre Company and London's Menier Chocolate Factory. Other work includes Gold Diggers of the 1, 2, & 3 and Something To Dance About (also written with Mr. Lyons); Confessions of a Serial Egg Donor; Goddess of the Hunt; and The Phillie Trilogy. Arouet held a reading of the third play in that trilogy, BBQ, at Benaroya Hall in June 2012, and the first play, Checking The Basement for Leaks, was part of the The Driftwood Players Short Play Festival in 2013.
