GAMEPLAY: an audio-described myth for the end times at Pleasance Dome, 10 Dome

GAMEPLAY is a new work from theatre-maker Sam Rees and sound artist AJ Turner, produced by Carmen Collective, premiering at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The piece spans ancient mythology, contemporary media panic, and speculative futures, centering on Soviet naval officer Vasili Arkhipov and exploring what theatre means in a moment of permacrisis. Combining immersive sound design, fractured storytelling, and integrated audio description, the production features Sam Rees as writer and performer alongside AJ Turner as sound designer and performer. Audio description has been embedded into the DNA of the piece through collaboration with Part of the Main and Roz Chalmers, refusing to privilege sight over other senses.
