Doktor K Worldwide and Suzanna Rosenthal Productions will present Doktor Kaboom and the Wheel of Science! Mind-blowing live science experiments ignite and excite curious young minds in this laugh-out-loud spin-the-wheel interactive show for families. Performances will run at Pleasance Courtyard, Beyond, 5 – 16 Aug 2026.
An explosive show fusing fun-packed live experiments with laugh-out-loud comedy, Doktor Kaboom and the Wheel of Science! gets children excited about science in an interactive family show where what happens next is decided by the spin of a wheel. Touring worldwide for 17 years – and now a Fringe favourite, back for a fifth year – larger-than-life scientist Doktor Kaboom comes prepared with a whirlwind of experiments from homemade hovercrafts to gigantic chemical reactions to catapulting bananas. Aiming to spark a love of science in young minds and encouraging them to embrace the unknown, Doktor Kaboom invites children on stage to take part in hands-on experiments. With no two shows the same, Kaboom empowers children with the message that science is for everyone, even the parents.
Creator and performer David Epley said, “The most wonderful thing about The Wheel of Science is that it's completely at the mercy of the room. Over the last five years, I've noticed a massive surge in how hungry family audiences are for a shared experience, and the sheer joy in the room when we all laugh and learn together is unmatched. We're leaning even harder into that ‘live chemistry' this year with some brand-new surprises on the wheel that I've never done before. If you think you're just coming to sit in the dark and watch a man in goggles, think again—the audience is the ingredient that turns this magnificent chaos into lifelong memories.”
David Epley is an actor and comedian from the USA. Epley first explored his passion for science in a lab he built in his parents' basement, and he eventually went on to study chemistry and physics at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics before going on to study Chemical Engineering at university. Along the way, he found a second passion for performing, and by joining the two David created Doktor Kaboom. Over the last 17 years as Doktor Kaboom, he has performed more than 2,000 live shows to a cumulative audience of over 2,000,000 students and families, worldwide. This year marks the Doktor's fifth year at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
