CRUISING to Make Edinburgh Fringe Debut with Dreambite Collective

Queer female theatre company Dreambite Collective will make their Fringe debut with the premiere of Katrina Bennett's new play Cruising, a  romcom about polyamory, protest, and passion in a warming world.

When a dancer and a climate activist meet over margaritas on a Mediterranean cruise, their attraction seems like the perfect holiday fling. Until the pair realise they share more than just chemistry: both are in a relationship with the same person. As potential romance explodes into fierce rivalry, the duo launch a competitive campaign of eco-sabotage against the mega-polluting ship. With the heat rising, can their connection and desire for a better world survive these dangerous waters?

In an era where demonstrations have broken out globally, Cruising is a subversive exploration of passion and protest. Beneath its warm romcom narrative, the play urgently spotlights the collision of authoritarian anti-protest laws with impending climate collapse. Written by Katrina Bennett, Cruising asks pertinent questions about how our current systems have failed, challenging audiences to rebel against the status quo in favour of community and human connection.

Katrina Bennett is a playwright and founding member of Dreambite Collective. Her first play Choose Your Fighter was developed with mentorship from Barrel Organ Theatre and debuted at festivals across the Midlands before a sold-out run at Camden People's Theatre in 2023. Cruising is her third play, an unconventional queer romcom about sizzling attraction exploding into competitive eco-sabotage.

Dreambite Collective make their Edinburgh Fringe debut with Cruising at Pleasance Courtyard, Bunker Three, 12:50 Wednesday 05 - Monday 31 August 2026 (no show 25-Aug).
