Celebrate the timeless music of Ella Fitzgerald, the First Lady of Song, whose nearly 60-year career helped define American jazz. From her swing-era brilliance at the Savoy Ballroom to her pioneering bebop improvisation and iconic songbook recordings, Ella’s voice elevated the works of Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, and George Gershwin into enduring classics. Her later years saw her captivating audiences worldwide with elegance, joy, and unmatched musicality.
Bay Area vocalist Stella Heath, praised for The Billie Holiday Project and Stella Meets Nat, takes on Ella’s legendary repertoire in Stella Swings Ella. Backed by an all-star band featuring Ian Scherer (guitar), Daniel Fabricant (bass), Robby Elfman (saxophone/clarinet), and Spike Klein (drums), this evening of vintage jazz from the 1930s–1950s promises a vibrant, soulful tribute to one of music’s greatest voices.
