Cloris Leachman

Tue. - Sat. 6/1-5, 8:00 pm $40-45
Sun. 6/6, 7:00 pm $45
Exclusive San Francisco Premier Engagement!
"Cloris! A One Woman Show"
Cloris Leachman played her first film role when she was seven. Now 83, Cloris Leachman is one of the few actresses that has created such a majestic diversity of roles in every entertainment medium from the zany, self-centered Phyllis on the "Mary Tyler Moore" show; hilarious Frau Blucher in "Young Frankenstein"; conically breasted Nurse Diesel in "High Anxiety"; and the awesomely prejudiced grandmother in "Malcolm In The Middle." Cloris played opposite Katharine Hepburn on Broadway in Shakespeare's "As You Like It" and sang the lead as Nellie Forbush in "South Pacific." Cloris' recent appearance on ABC TV's "Dancing With The Stars" was one of the highlights of the television season.

In contrast to these creations are Cloris' superb dramatic performances. She won her Oscar as Ruth Popper, the emotionally barren woman in "The Last Picture Show." The Oscar sits regally on a shelf in Cloris' home alongside her nine Emmys, the most ever won by an actor. Whether dining with presidents and prime ministers, senators and congressmen or working with the great talents of the entertainment industry, Cloris has lived an exciting life. In giving birth to four boys and a girl, in losing one of her sons to drugs, in becoming first to grandmother and now a great grandmother, Cloris has known the exhilaration and tears of family life. Cloris' one-woman show draws from the magical moments in her professional and personal careers. The show is everything you'd expect from unique, multitalented Cloris and more. Don't miss Cloris Leachman in "An Actress' Road Through Life."

Mort Sahl & Dick Gregory

Tue. - Fri. 6/8-12 and 6/15-19, 8:00 pm $45-50
Sun. 6/13 and 6/20, 7:00 pm $45
Mort Sahl & Dick Gregory
Lauded for his fearless brand of political satire and incisive view of the human condition, Mort Sahl was the first humorist on the cover of Time, the first performer to make a comedy album, and the first non-musician to win a Grammy. He has been under contract at every major television network and was the first to pioneer live comedy on college campuses. As a writer, Mort is credited with 18 screenplays. He is also in demand as a political scribe, writing numerous speeches for former Presidents John F. Kennedy, Ronald Reagan and most recently working on the campaigns of Bill Bradley and George W. Bush.

Since he entered the national comedy scene in 1961, comedian and civil rights activist, Dick Gregory used social satire to change the way white Americans perceived African American comedians. Through the 1960s, Gregory spent much of his time on social issues, supporting a range of causes, including opposition to the Vietnam War, world hunger, and drug abuse.
