The Marsh, a breeding ground for new performance, in association with the Marines Memorial Theatre, is proud to welcome back Dan Hoyle's critically acclaimed, one-man show TINGS DEY HAPPEN to San Francisco's Marines Memorial Theatre (609 Sutter St., 2nd floor) for a strictly limited four-week engagement beginning Thursday, November 5. Tickets range in price from $35 - $45 and are available now at the Marines Memorial Theatre box office, by phone at 415-771-6900 and on the web at marinesmemorialtheatre.com. Special pricing is available as part of the Marines Memorial Theatre's "Under 30 Thursdays," featuring $25 tickets for patrons age 30 and under with valid ID.

Developed with and directed by solo performance master Charlie Varon at The Marsh, TINGS DEY HAPPEN is a riveting adventure story highlighting the year Hoyle spent exploring the West African oil frontier as a Fulbright scholar. Portraying pacifist militants, media-savvy warlords, Africanized Texas oil workers, prostitute activists and the American ambassador to Nigeria, Hoyle brings to the stage one of the most important geopolitical stories of our time.

A native San Franciscan, Hoyle is currently in Nigeria participating in the U.S. State Department's Public Speakers' Series, performing his show in several cities throughout the country - including Lagos, Calabar, Abuja, Jos and Bauchi, leading workshops for students and civil society groups, giving interviews on national television, sharing bits of his characters to Nigerians in town squares and at river docks and honoring and celebrating with Nigerians the stories and characters that have finally returned home after provoking and impacting audiences in the U.S. Post-show talkbacks about Hoyle's adventures performing the show in Nigeria will be conducted after each Thursday and Friday evening performance and Sunday matinees.

TINGS DEY HAPPEN, originally scheduled to re-open at The Marsh where it previously played three long-running sold-out engagements, will now open at the 650-seat Marines Memorial Theatre to accommodate the demand for tickets. This will be the last opportunity for Bay Area audiences to see Dan Hoyle perform this show. There will be no extensions as Hoyle and Varon begin rehearsals for Hoyle's new show, The Real Americans, premiering at The Marsh in January 2010.

"What a wonderful development to have Dan come back from Nigeria and have the opportunity to move Tings downtown to the beautiful Marines Memorial Theatre. I am so thrilled that The Marsh is embarking on this new collaboration," says Stephanie Weisman, artistic director & founder of The Marsh, a breeding ground for new performance.

"We are so excited to be working with The Marsh on this production and look forward to collaborating together in the future," says Roxanne Goodfellow, artistic & general manager of the Marines Memorial Theatre.

Called a "first-rate reporter and actor" by The New York Times, Hoyle is also the creator of two other hit shows - Circumnavigator and Florida 2004: The Big Bummer - both performed in his unique form of journalistic theatre.

TINGS DEY HAPPEN is playing San Francisco's Marines Memorial Theatre (609 Sutter St., 2nd floor) November 5 - 29, 2009.
