TREASURE ISLAND Hits The Bus Barn Stage Company 9/4-10/3

By:

Robert Louis Stevenson’s masterful adventure story is set to come to life onstage in Ken Ludwig’s brand new adaptation of Treasure Island, opening September 4 on the Los Altos stage. Bus Barn Stage Company presents the Bay Area premiere of this rollicking pirate tale that runs through October 3.

The high-spirited story, narrated by young Jim Hawkins, begins on the Devon Coast in 1774 and quickly becomes an unforgettable tale of treachery and mayhem featuring a host of legendary swashbucklers including the dangerous Billy Bones, the sinister Israel Hands, the brassy woman pirate Anne Bonny, and the hideous Blind Pew. At the center of it all are Jim Hawkins, a 14-year-old boy longing for adventure, and the infamous Long John Silver, the most famous hero-villain of all time, who form a friendship as they search for gold on the high seas.

Thirteen actors portray a panoply of characters in this Bay Area premiere at Bus Barn Stage Company. Directed by Artistic Director Barbara J. Cannon, the cast features Charles McKeithan as Long John Silver, Annamarie MacLeod as Jim Hawkins, and features Deb Anderson, Brent Beebe, Christopher Carter, David Hamilton, Max Koknar, Nicolae Muntean, Jonathan Murphy, Vic Prosak, Chris Tann, Joshua Messick, and Katie Petroselli Shurtz as the motley crew of pirates and heroes. Kit Wilder choreographs the swashbuckling stage combat.

Performances are held at the Bus Barn Theatre, 97 Hillview Avenue in Los Altos Thursdays through Saturdays at 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 16 and 30 at 7:30 P.M., Sunday, September 13 at 7PM and September 20 and 27 at 3PM.
