Prospect Theater Project and The Gallo Center for the Arts are joining again to bring John Steinbeck's Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award-winning novel The Grapes of Wrath, to the Gallo Center stage May 4-5 and 9-13. The performance of the classic story follows the partnering organizations highly successful production ofTo Kill A Mockingbird which played at the Gallo Center in the 2010/2011 season.

Adapted for the stage by Frank Galati and directed by the Prospect Theater Project's Artistic Director Jack Souza, The Grapes of Wrath tells the life-affirming story of a Great Depression-era family who overcomes hardships associated with leaving their Oklahoma home in search of a better life in California

"Like To Kill A Mockingbird, The Grapes of Wrath is an adaptation of one of the greatest novels of the twentieth century.  It will bring the depression-era story to vivid life," said Jim Johnson, PhD, Arts and Education Coordinator at the Gallo Centerfor the Arts.  "It is a production that no theatre lover should miss."

The Grapes of Wrath is the second collaboration between the Prospect Theater Project and the Gallo Center for the Arts. Their first joint partnership, To Kill A Mockingbird, performed nine shows in May 2011, all of which sold out and received praise from audiences and critics alike.

The Grapes of Wrath plays at 8:00 PM on May 4, 5, 11 and 12. Matinees at 2:00 PM will play on May 9, 10 and 13. Tickets are on sale now and range from $8 to $15. Groups of 15 or more are eligible for a 15% discount. For tickets and more information, visit www.galloarts.org or call (209) 338-2100.
