Producer Jo Schuman Silver announced today that Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon, the world's longest running musical revue, will extend its 35th Anniversary festivities with 35 special performances, beginning Wednesday, June 10, 2009. These performances will feature quintessential Beach Blanket Babylon musical numbers created just for the 35th Anniversary as well as a special video tribute to the show's creator, Steve Silver. Tickets for these special performances range in price from $25 - 80 and are available by phone at 415-421-4222, online at beachblanketbabylon.com or at the Beach Blanket Babylon Box Office (678 Green Street, San Francisco).

The festivities will kick-off at Club Fugazi on Monday, June 8 at 7:30 p.m. with a special Steve Silver Foundation & Beach Blanket Babylon "Scholarship for the Arts" Finals. The "Scholarship for the Arts," which was created in 2002 as part of its commitment to the arts, has grown into an event eagerly anticipated by San Francisco Bay Area high schools and the community. Talented high school seniors throughout the San Francisco Bay Area are asked to send in a three-minute recording of them performing in one of three categories: singing, acting or dancing. The top three finalists in each category will perform their three-minute piece live in front of celebrity judges and an invited audience made up of their family and friends. One winner from each category will be presented with a $10,000 check towards their higher education from The Steve Silver Foundation & Beach Blanket Babylon. Entries for the "Scholarship for the Arts" will be accepted through Friday, April 24, 2009.

In addition to the finalists' performances on June 8, the 35th Anniversary show will also include special performances by the cast of Beach Blanket Babylon as well as a reunion performance featuring previous "Scholarship for the Arts" winners.

"We had originally planned for the June 8th 'Scholarship for the Arts' Finals to be held at Lowell High School, Steve's Alma Mater," said Schuman Silver. "However, because these 35 special performances will be at Club Fugazi, it made the most sense to, once again, hold the 'Scholarship' Finals there as well. Everyone at Beach Blanket Babylon is very excited about sharing this historic Anniversary with all of our friends in the Bay Area.
