The award-winning Spreckels Theatre Company invites aspiring young actors and actresses (ages 8 to 18-years old) to register for its five-week "Young Actors' Workshop," presented at the Spreckels Performing Arts Center in Rohnert Park.

The professional, five-week theater arts program provides training for musical theater performance with emphasis on singing, dance and movement - culminating with participation in the full-length, full-scale main stage production "The Little Princess," based on the classic story by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

"A Little Princess" tells the story of Sara Crewe, a girl who overcomes the death of her father and a reversal of fortune with grace, bravery and imagination. After being separated from her father and the open hearted Africans who have helped him raise her, Sara is sent to a London boarding school where unforeseen circumstances force her into servitude under the hand of its dour headmistress, Miss Minchin.

Registration is open now for the theater workshop which begins with an orientation 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 8. Workshop hours will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays from July 13 to July 31. Evening rehearsals with the adult cast are from Aug. 3 to Aug. 13. There will be 12 performances from Aug. 14 to Aug. 30.

Tuition for the five-week workshop is $650. Payment plans and financial assistance are available.

Space is limited. To register or for more information about the Spreckels Theatre Company Young Actors' Summer Workshop call 707-588-3400 from 12 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
