Spencer Day Returning to Feinstein's at the Nikko, 6/5-6
Hotel Nikko San Francisco and Michael Feinstein will welcome the return of singer-songwriter-pianist Spencer Day to Feinstein's at the Nikko for two performances only - Friday, June 5 (8 p.m.); and Saturday, June 6 (8 p.m.). Day will take on love gone right, love gone wrong and, of course, love that's fit for song in his new show Lovefool! Featuring classic standards, compositions, and interesting takes on new standards by the Cardigans, Michael Jackson and more. Spencer's take on Lovefool is sure to get even the most cynical romantics in the mood. Tickets for Spencer Day range in price from $40 - $55 and are on-sale now by calling 866.663.1063 or visiting www.ticketweb.com. CDs will be available after the show and online at spencerday.com.
Audiences around the world have enthusiastically supported Spencer for over ten years at venues as diverse as Birdland in New York, the Hollywood Bowl, Jazz Alley in Seattle, the Pacific Rim Jazz Festival in Manila, the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, Tanglewood Music Center in Boston, and the Craig Ferguson Show. Day has been a perennial favorite in the San Francisco Bay Area and is widely regarded for his original songs that blend compelling melodies, smart lyrics and lush arrangements. He enjoys the versatility and flexibility of his music and performs shows that infuse elements of cabaret, storytelling, and comedy with his piano and vocals. For his recent album "Daybreak", debuting #1 on the iTunes Jazz Chart, Day crafted five new works that blend seamlessly with the cover tunes to create a moving tribute to the time, sound, feel, and sensibility that defined the California mid-century experience. He calls "Daybreak" his "top-down Chevy convertible on the Pacific Coast Highway" album, evoking the breezy feel of a sunny Southern California afternoon. Classics including "Groovin", "A World Without Love" and "Never My Love" have been re-imagined and interpreted in Spencer's trademark honey baritone voice. "Daybreak" reflects Spencer's roots in the Great American Songbook, with a contemporary, upbeat twist that has become his signature sound.
