Shaynee Rainbolt, winner of 2009 MAC Award for Best Jazz Recording and winner of the 2008 MAC Award for Best Original Song, will bring her new show of Russell Garcia original songs and arrangements to Yoshi's, 510 Embarcadero West, Oakland, CA, on Wednesday, July 22 at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $14 and can be purchased by calling (510) 238 9200 or at www.yoshis.com.

Rainbolt, a Bay Area native, lives in New York but has strong West Coast ties as a graduate of Albany High, San Francisco State (BA) and Golden Gate University (MA). Her new show includes cuts from her award winning, top selling pop-jazz CD, "Charmed Life" as well as other music arranged by legendary arranger/composer Russell Garcia. Shaynee Rainbolt and her Four Trombone Band harkens back to the Glory Days of swing and singer-fronted big bands with a mix of warm nostalgia and present-day excitement that is appealing to young and old alike. Rainbolt authentically recreated the classic era of 1950s and ‘60s pop/jazz albums by working with one of the great arrangers of that era. The show features the classic ‘four trombone band' sound created by Garcia. Still working at 93, Garcia is best remembered for arranging for Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Mel Torme and Anita O'Day. Today he lends his talents to a new generation, working with Rainbolt.

Shaynee has performed at top jazz clubs in the US and UK, including the Highline Ballroom, Iridium Jazz Club, Jazz Standard, The Metropolitan Room, Jazz at Pearl's, the Rrazz Room, Yoshi's, The Jazz Bakery and London's Pizza Express Jazz Club.

According to Don Heckman, jazz writer for the Los Angeles Times, "The first thing that grabs you about Shaynee Rainbolt is her voice - a warm, rich, multi-hued sound ... It's a voice that one can imagine hearing from a ballroom bandstand, caressing a ballad, surrounded by the lush timbres of a swinging big band .... She is, in other words, a singer for all seasons, underscoring her constant musical eclecticism with the subtleties of jazz-inflected phrasing and a sumptuous tone."
