Thu 12/1 The Space Between Us - Advance Screening supporting Lincoln Theater and Roots of Peace
Starring Gary Oldman, Asa Butterfield, Carla Gugino, and Britt Robertson
(7pm) This is now a FREE event for the community

In this interplanetary adventure, a space shuttle embarks on the first mission to colonize Mars, only to discover after takeoff that one of the astronauts is pregnant. Shortly after landing, she dies from complications while giving birth to the first human born on the red planet - never revealing who the father is. Thus begins the extraordinary life of Gardner Elliot - an inquisitive, highly intelligent boy who reaches the age of 16 having only met 14 people in his very unconventional upbringing. When he finally gets a chance to go to Earth, he's eager to experience all of the wonders he could only read about on Mars - from the most simple to the extraordinary. Following the screening is a Q&A with co-writer/producer Richard B. Lewis.

Tix reservations: http://lincolntheater.com/vbo/?page=selectevent&eid=16683&edid=0
The Lover is a quirky, tense, intriguing one-act by Harold Pinter that examines the private intricacies of modern marriage. To all outward appearances, Sarah and Richard are a respectable, conventional suburban couple. Behind closed doors, however, the couple enjoys a surprising and intriguing arrangement: every day, while Richard is at work, Sarah's lover comes to the house. Richard, meanwhile, frequents a prostitute in the city. Yet, the two speak openly to one another of their extramarital affairs without jealousy, judgment, or anger. As we learn more about Sarah and Richard's affairs, we see how a modern married couple has found an unconventional way to cope with extramarital temptation. Like any of Pinter's works, this one-act contains the laughs, tears, and tensions that arise from the social intricacies of modern life.

Willie K - that's "K" for Kahaialii - is, in the words of the Honolulu Weekly, "an amazing guitar virtuoso, a Hawaiian Jimi Hendrix; he's Gabby Pahinui, Andres Segovia, and Eddie Van Halen rolled into one. Willie can mimic seemingly any style, moving easily between screaming Stratocaster, sweet slack key, and jazzy, almost baroque, acoustic 12-string." Besides being a guitar wizard, he also sings and writes gorgeous originals, from rocking blues to tender ballads in the traditional Hawaiian style. Since releasing his debut album in 1992, he has won more than a dozen, Na Hoku Hanohano awards, the Hawaiian equivalent of the Grammy.

The Lest We Forget Foundation's primary goal is to render assistance to those local combat Veterans who need a helping hand during the stressful adjustment and return to civilian life process. Returning Combat Veterans from Vietnam and Korea can tell you firsthand how hard it is to resume your civilian lifestyle and assume a peacetime protocol without experiencing some stressful moments in the process. Unfortunately todays returning Veterans face daunting issues such as gainful employment, long delays and questionable treatment from the Veterans Administration coupled with an apathetic American public that really does not care that you went oversees in the service of your county. The Lest We Forget Foundation was founded by combat veterans who have experienced the same public apathy and (at times) outright hostility upon their return home. We want the latest returning combat veterans to know that somebody has 'your back' and that the majority of Americans appreciate your personal sacrifice.
