Ross Valley Players Presents Solo Player Festival of One Acts Staring Feb. 24

It's something brand-new at Ross Valley Players. The Ross Valley Players' opens up its Barn Theatre to five solo performers for a weeklong series of solo performance pieces. It's a chance to bring audiences work that's fresh, new and intriguing. The Ross Valley Players is proud to present five solo acts, based on true life experiences and celebrated personalities that are provocative, emotional and funny. 

Tuesday, February 24, 2009: "Punchline" By Alicia Dattner - Take a journey into the quirky world of standup comedians, hungry-funny monsters who live in the belly, Jewish grandmothers, and wacky gurus who all think they know the answers. A dive inside the wild playground of the mind to ask the big questions: What's life all about? Why am I here? Where are you hiding the chocolate? This poignant and bittersweet comedy speaks to the heart of what really matters. Alicia Dattner received the Best Female Solo Act award at the 2008 San Francisco Fringe Festival for "Punchline."

Wednesday, February 25, 2009: "Tolula" By Kikelomo Adedeji, directed by Craig Landry When her illegal boyfriend, Rafi, returns home to Mexico, a heartbroken artist searches for solace in Tolula, New Mexico - population 298. Unable to find even a minimum wage job, she crosses the border to visit Rafi and falls in love all over again. Staying in Mexico is not an option for either of them but returning to the U.S. means Rafi will have to again pay a "coyote" to get him across the perilous border-this time in the 120-degree heat of the Sonora desert.

Thursday, February 26, 2009: "Sleep to Wake: Robert Browning Remembers Elizabeth" By Julian Lopez-Morillas - The world premiere of Julian Lopez-Morillas' solo exploration of Victorian poet Robert Browning and his writings.

Friday, February 27, 2009: "Tea 'n Crisp" By Richard Louis James - Quentin Crisp lived life without shame, without reservation and without compromise. Now Richard Louis James brings the icon and raconteur Crisp back to life in this remarkable interpretation.

Saturday, February 28, 2009: "Hope Eternal" By Joel Blum - Two-time Tony Award nominee Joel Blum presents this world premiere of a musical journey through The Life of Bob Hope, starting from Hope's twilight years and drifting back to his early days in Vaudeville.
