PianoFight to Present JANE WAS HERE, 8/18-20

Hot on the heels of its grand opening in May, SF production company & venue PianoFight is venturing out of its familiar comedic content into meatier territory with Jane Was Here. Audiences will be immersed in a world of unique perspectives and touching reality while giggling, stomping their feet, wiping their eyes, and almost certainly with a drink in hand. This three-night-only show takes place August 18th thru the 20th and features brand new, original material created by five local female playwrights specifically created for this performance. In line with its mission statement of creating new work by new artists, PianoFight is excited to produce original content that invites both their audiences and their artists into new narrative territory. With their new venue comes the opportunity to play to a more diverse and larger crowd, and thus allows the company to keep pushing its stylistic boundaries. Jane Was Here touches on both humor and the absurd, as well as the touching and the poignant - blending music, dance and theater to create a show unlike anything PianoFight has done before. Whether it's a mime's fantasy, a shadow's judgement, a nun's conundrum, or a family conflict, this show will take you to places that will both challenge your mind and move your spirit.

Jane Was Here premieres original content written and directed by Siobhan Doherty, Molly Benson, Lexie Papedo Gasparini, Jena McRae, Emma Shelton, and Sarah Wright-Schreiberg.

PIANOFIGHT was formed by Rob Ready, Dan Williams and Kevin Fink in 2007. After completing a $1.2 million fundraising campaign, 10% of which was crowd-funded through the largest Theater Kickstarter for a New Live Performance Venue ever, PianoFight has completed its home at 144 Taylor Street in San Francisco. The venue contains three rehearsal spaces, two black box theaters (42-seater and a 92-seater), and a full restaurant and bar with a cabaret stage. Since its inception, PianoFight has successfully managed venues (Off-Market Theater Complex); created the largest audience-judged playwriting competition in the country (ShortLived); instigated a fully-scripted, choose-your-own-adventure play series (FORKING!); recklessly invited audiences to Throw Rotten Veggies at the Actors Nights; formed two critically acclaimed sketch comedy groups (Mission CTRL and Chardonnay); toured the coast of California (Endless Weekend Tour I & II); created a surf rock band (Das Haus Band) and a soul band (PianoFight Music Department); launched a film department that retains corporate and artistic clients; and built a three-man producing team into a 48-member company of artists while staying true to its mission of producing New Work by New Artists .
