Photo Flash: Meet the Stars of THE BOYS FROM SYRACUSE at 42nd Street Moon

42nd Street Moon continues its 23rd season with a company favorite, THE BOYS FROM SYRACUSE, a musical adaptation of Shakespeare's THE COMEDY OF ERRORS with music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Lorenz Hart, and book by George Abbott. Set in ancient Ephesus, two sets of twins face mistaken identities, fast-paced chases, magic spells, wily courtesans, and a mysterious seer in this madcap farce. The outstanding Rodgers & Hart score includes "This Can't Be Love," "Falling in Love With Love," and "Sing for Your Supper." Directed by Greg MacKellan, THE BOYS FROM SYRACUSE will run March 23-April 17, 2016 (Press opening: Saturday, March 26) at the Eureka Theatre, 215 Jackson Street, San Francisco. Scroll down for a sneak peek at the cast in costume!

Filled with two sets of twins, and women chased and chaste, THE BOYS FROM SYRACUSE was the first musical ever adapted from Shakespeare. Identical twins Antipholus of Syracuse and Antipholus of Ephesus were separated as children in a shipwreck. Both have manservants, also twins, both named Dromio. When the Syracuse set arrive in Ephesus, mishaps and mischief ensue as they are mistaken for their brothers by merchants, wives, and mistresses. Perplexed wives, disgruntled courtesans, and outraged constables are left in the duo's wake before this show's tangled web is unraveled.

42nd Street Moon has assembled a solid cast to bring this ancient Grecian adventure to life, including a pair of real twins to help keep the confusion fresh. The roles of Dromio of Ephesus and Dromio of Syracuse will be played by Paul Rescigno and Robbie Rescigno. Lucas Coleman (who has been seen at 42nd Street Moon in It's a Bird...It's a Plane...It's Superman and recently in Sail Away) will portray Antipholus of Syracuse, David Naughton will play Antipholus of Ephesus (recently seen as the Ghost of Christmas Future and Scrooges's former friend Dick Wilkins in Scrooge in Love!), Abby Haug (recently seen in Where's Charley?) will play Antipholus of Ephesus' wife Adriana, Elise Youssef (recently seen as the Ghost of Christmas Past in Scrooge in Love!) will play Luciana, and Heather Orth (seen in Something for the Boys, and others) will play Luce. The ensemble also features Dyan McBride, Mike Rhone, Kyle Stoner, Stephen Vaught, Nikita Burshteyn, Erin Ashe, Dianne Fraser, and Ashley Garlick. This production will be choreographed by Jayne Zaban and features musical direction by Dave Dobrusky.

42nd Street Moon Artistic Director Greg MacKellan will direct this production of THE BOYS FROM SYRACUASE. A veteran musical theatre writer, director, performer, and producer, his credits in New York and Los Angeles include a revival of Stephen Schwartz and Joseph Stein's The Baker's Wife, which he developed in collaboration with the authors. In addition to his work on dozens of 42nd Street Moonproductions, MacKellan has served as director and writer in more than fifteen revues for various Bay Area groups. This will be MacKellan's final job of direction as artistic director of the company. He retires at the end of this season.
