42nd Street Moon presents the first post-Broadway prouction of NICK & NORA at The Eureka Theatre, San Francisco, CA, from tonight, April 1-19, 2015. BroadwayWorld has a sneak peek at the cast below!
Bay Area audiences will get the first post-Broadway look at one of New York's most fabled short lived musicals when 42nd Street Moon presents NICK & NORA. Featuring Nick and Nora Charles, the iconic sleuths from Dashiell Hammett's The Thin Man novels, this frothy who-dunnit features a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Charles Strouse, and lyrics by Richard Maltby. Wit and mayhem co-exist in 1930s Hollywood as a studio bookkeeper is murdered and everyone's a suspect. Nick, the seasoned detective, and Nora a neophyte, compete to solve the murder case.
Aside from an Australian concert of songs, this is the first time Nick & Nora has been seen since the 1991 Broadway production. Artistic Director Greg MacKellan, who will helm this production, says, "We're thrilled that Charles Strouse and Richard Maltby have entrusted it to us." Says Charles Strouse, "Nick & Nora held the greatest promise for me. I'm so delighted it's getting a second chance at 42nd Street Moon. When the curtain rises on theSan Francisco production of Nick & Nora theater 'magic' may happen - it often does you know." Music direction will be provided by Dave Dobrusky, with choreography by Staci Arriaga.The production runs April 1 - 19, 2015 (Press opening: Friday April 3 OR Saturday, April 4, 2015), playing Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7 pm, Fridays at 8 pm, Saturdays at 6 pm and Sundays at 3 pm at The Eureka Theatre, 215 Jackson Street, San Francisco, CA 94111.
