Photo Flash: First Look at CABARET at Contra Costa Civic Theatre
Contra Costa Civic Theatre (CCCT) presents its season-opening production of the Kander and Ebb classic, Cabaret, playing from tonight, September 22, through October 22. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!
Directed by CCCT Artistic Director Marilyn Langbehn, with music direction by Tania Johnson and choreography by Allison Paraiso, Cabaret features Cameron La Brie as the Emcee, Annika Bergman as Sally Bowles, Brian Kamps as Cliff Bradshaw, Scarlett Hepworth as Fräulein Schneider, Aaron Malberg as Herr Schultz, Alexis Lane Jensen as Fraulein Kost, and Tim Holt Jones as Ernst Ludwig. The production also features Bianca Contreras, Danya El-Kurd, Rebecca Euchler, Ronald James, Megan McGrath, Katy Mlodzik, and Chris Totah as the Kit Kat ensemble.
The design team is Randy Wong-Westbrooke (set design), Lisa Danz (costume design), Courtney Johnson (lighting design), and Devon LaBelle (props design).
Based on the stories of Christopher Isherwood and the play I Am A Camera by John Van Druten, Cabaret explores the swirling maelstrom of a changing society through the interwoven stories of a third-rate chanteuse, an American writer, the inhabitants of a once-respectable boarding house, and the denizens of a seedy Berlin nightclub. Led by the enigmatic and dazzling Emcee, Cabaret is an intoxicating experience, featuring well-known classics such as "Don't Tell Mama," "Maybe This Time," and the title song.
Single tickets for Cabaret range from $15 to $36 and go on sale beginning September 5. Subscriptions for CCCT's 2017-18 5-play season are available online at www.ccct.org or by phone at 510.524.9012. All performances take place at CCCT's intimate and fully accessible theatre in the Flynn building located at 951 Pomona Avenue in El Cerrito. Free parking is provided in the adjoining lot.
