Northern California Premiere of Broadway Musical CATCH ME IF YOU CAN Begins Tonight

By:

Spreckels Theatre Company presents the Northern California premiere of the Broadway musical "Catch Me If You Can," the high-flying musical comedy based on the DreamWorks film and incredible true story that inspired it.

Set in the early 1960s, "Catch Me If You Can" is inspired by the real-life adventures of Frank Abagnale Jr., a teenager who impersonated an airline pilot, doctor and lawyer while traveling the world and passing more than one million dollars in bad checks - while in pursuit by Carl Hanratty, an FBI agent determined to catch him. This musical version pulls out all the stops with flashy Las Vegas style production numbers, jazz and blues tunes and a book that explores all the depth of the movie.

The Spreckels Theatre Company production features Zack Howard as Frank Abagnale Jr. and David Yen as FBI agent Carl Hanratty.

This main stage production is presented with the new Paradyne projection system, developed by Spreckels Performing Arts Center, combining still images and animations to create multiple backdrop effects - creating a visual aesthetic that's exciting and visually surprising for audiences of the 21st Century.

"Catch Me If You Can" features frank, sometimes adult subject matter and may not be appropriate for young people under the age of seventeen.
