The New Conservatory Theatre Center's Pride Season 15 presents Beautiful Thing by Jonathan Harvey, directed by Andrew Nance. The show previewed November 6 -13, opens November 14th and runs through January 3, 2010: All performances will take place at The New Conservatory Theatre Center's Walker Theatre.
This ten-year anniversary production of the NCTC West Coast stage premiere tells the timeless story about two working class London teenage boys who fall in love. This tender and funny love story, set in a South London housing project, tells the tale of Jamie Engel, a shy young man and Ste, his charming and handsome next door neighbor. The boys' attraction to one another is quickened by Ste's difficult home life and the well-meaning intentions of Jamie's Mum, Sandra. Her love and patience are tested as she finds out the truth about the boys' unexpected relationship. A screen adaptation of the play was released in 1996.Recognized for its top quality creative productions, The Pride Season is an eleven month subscriber based gay theatre performance program. The Pride Season produces the work of local, national and international playwrights.
