NCTC's Summer Cabaret Series Continues With Tom Orr In A CRASS ACT 8/27 Thru 9/12

By:

NCTC's Summer Cabaret Series continues with Tom Orr in A Crass Act. The show previews August 27 and 28, opens Saturday, August 29th and runs through September 12, 2009: Thursdays through Saturdays at 8pm. All performances will take place at The New Conservatory Theatre Center (Theatre 3), located at 25 Van Ness Ave. near Market St. in San Francisco, 94102. Tickets range from $20 - $28 and are available at the NCTC Box Office (415) 861 8972, or online at www.nctcsf.org.

Hot on the high heels of his hit 2008 solo show, I Feel a Thong Coming On!, San Francisco's "Musical Comedy Cabaret Porn Star" and award-winning lyricist Tom Orr is back at NCTC with an all-new evening of smart, sexy, and scandalous parodies in A Crass Act! Inspired by the legendary nightclub acts of the Manhattan, Hollywood and Vegas of yore, Orr has reunited with longtime collaborative co-conspirators, director F. Allen Sawyer and musical director and accompanist Scrumbly Koldewyn (2008 BATCC Award Nominee - Best Musical Direction, I Feel A Thong Coming On!) -- to add his satirical lyrical spin to another disarray of classic showtunes with a twist. From the tails of his tux to the tips of his taps, boas and bow ties, fishnets and flesh, Orr guarantees a swanky, skanky, swinging, brassy, classy and sassy black-tie affair to remember, with new victims to be savaged and skewered by his lascivious, lacerating wit, unending gender-bending and quicksilver quick changes.

Each summer, NCTC produces a four-month series highlighting local writers, singers, and musicians. This series features cabaret solo shows as well as ensembles and original musical work.

The New Conservatory Theatre Center (Theatre 3) is located at 25 Van Ness Ave. at Market St. in San Francisco, 94102.
