Magic Theatre, San Francisco's home for new plays, presents The Virgin Play Series, five staged readings of works currently in development playing in cafés and theatres throughout San Francisco. Funded by a generous donation from Martha Heasley Cox, The Virgin Play Series is a program central to Magic's mission: to develop the work of emerging and mid-career playwrights and introduce the work of those artists to new audiences and communities. The readings will introduce newcomers Zohar Tirosh-Polk, Ryan Purcell, Javier Malpica, and his translator Jorge Ignacio Cortiñas to San Francisco audiences, as well as offer an opportunity to hear work-in-progress by well-loved Magic playwrights Lloyd Suh (American Hwangap) and Theresa Rebeck (Mauritius), both of whom had hits on Magic's stage in 2009.

The readings will feature equity actors and professional directors in script-in-hand readings. A conversation with the playwright, director, actors and audience will follow each reading.
