Linda Lavin to Perform Concerts in San Francisco, 3/17-22

By:

The Tony Award-winning actress Linda Lavin -- who returns to Broadway this spring in Nicky Silver's comedy THE LYONS starting April 5 at the Cort Theatre (138 W. 48 St.) -- will perform two concerts this month before settling into rehearsals for THE LYONS:

On Saturday, March 17 at 8 p.m. she will perform with the 60-piece Wilmington Symphony Orchestra along with her band including Bucky Pizzarelli (guitar), John Brown (bass), Steve Bakunis (drums), musical director Billy Stritch and singer Jim Caruso at Kenan Auditorium (601 S. College Rd.) in Wilmington, NC.

On Wednesday, March 21 at 8 pm she will perform at the Rrazz Room (222 Mason St.), San Francisco's premiere night club, joining a roster of stars including Freda Payne, Mary Wilson, Sharon McKnight, Cece Peniston, Pia Zadora, Natalie Douglas, Billy Stritch, and Will and Anthony Nunziata in a benefit for St. Jude Hospital.

At both concerts, Ms. Lavin will perform selections from her first-ever CD "Possibilities" -- a recording of Broadway and cabaret standards including "It Might As Well be Spring," "You've Got Possibilities," "Two for the Road" and "Small Hotel" -- with musical director Billy Stritch, released last fall by Sh-k-boom Records.

Tickets to Linda Lavin's March 17th concert in Wilmington are $40 and can be reserved by calling 910-962-3500 or online at www.wilmingtonsymphony.org. Tickets to the Rrazz Room concert are $75, $125 and $175 and can be reserved online at www.therrazzroom.com or by calling 800-380-3095.

Winner of the Tony Award for BROADWAY BOUND, Linda Lavin earned rave reviews last fall for her portrayal of Rita Lyons -- a woman at a major crossroads in her life as her husband lay dying and she realizes her grown children haven't amounted to much -- in Nicky Silver's dark comedy THE LYONS when it debuted at Vineyard Theatre. Ms. Lavin's many Broadway credits include having won the Tony Award for BROADWAY BOUND, along with Tony nominations for COLLECTED STORIES, THE TALE OF THE ALLERGIST'S WIFE, THE DIARY OF Anne Frank and THE LAST OF THE RED HOT LOVERS. She appeared at the Kennedy Center in FOLLIES and at Lincoln Center in OTHER DESERT CITIES and THE NEW CENTURY. She starred for nine seasons on the TV series "Alice," winning two Golden Globes. Her numerous film roles include the recent WANDERLUST.

Directed by Mark Brokaw with a cast featuring Tony winner Dick Latessa, Michael Esper, Kate Jennings Grant, Brenda Pressley and Gregory Wooddell, THE LYONS begins previews April 5 and opens April 23 on Broadway. Kathleen K. Johnson is producing the Vineyard Theatre production of THE LYONS. Tickets are on sale now through Tele-charge at 212 239 6200.
