The San Francisco production of the critically acclaimed Killer Joe will play its final performance on Sunday, August 13th at 7:30PM, having played over 70 performances and 9 previews.
Killer Joe premiered at San Francisco's Magic Theatre on June 10, 2006. Originally scheduled to close on Sunday, July 23, 2006, Killer Joe was held over twice due to overwhelming response from audiences. Robert Hurwitt of the San Francisco Chronicle called Killer Joe "wickedly funny...this summer's most outrageously unsettling comic treat," while Robert Avila of the San Francisco Bay Guardian called it "Big, bold and unflaggingly entertaining." Killer Joe is "a dark comedy that tells the story of Chris Smith, a drug dealer with debt problems, who cooks up a nasty scheme with his father and stepmother to make a quick $50,000: hire a hit man to kill Chris' mother so he can collect on her life insurance policy. When hit man Killer Joe Cooper demands Chris's sister Dottie as payment, this disturbing and thought-provoking play begins an intense downward spiral culminating in a thriller conclusion," states press notes.Videos
