"Lucy! I'm home!" Lights! Camera! Action! And welcome to the set of the I Love Lucy show! SHN presents I Love Lucy Live On Stage at the Curran Theatre Nov. 11th - 23rd so get ready to step back in time to go behind the scenes of this history-making television show. I Love Lucy Live On Stage is a new stage production that is adapted by theatre and television veterans Rick Sparks and Kim Flagg. What a kick it will be to join Lucy, Ricky, Fred, and Ethel on stage live and in living color for the very first time!

The year is 1952. You are a member of the stage audience that attended the taping of an episode of the famous series. This means that you get to watch and be entertained on the Desilu Playhouse soundstage where a delightful host entertains and amuses you and takes you through the behind-the-scenes antics of the cast. Follow America's favorite redhead in the Ricardo's New York apartment and dance to the Cuban sounds of "The Ricky Ricardo Orchestra." Twist and shout or hula-hoop your way to the Curran with the entire family and enjoy a piece a bit of nostalgia and some good laughs. By why wait until then to get into the mood. Below are some suggestions from Hodges & Hodges on how to get in the mood for the SF show and double your fun!

That Famous Redhead

Want that beautiful Lucy hair style? Head on over to Glama-Rama! Nestled in the heart of the Mission, this glam, hip hair-do palace does an amazing job with authentic period piece hair styles that will make you the envy of every audience member at the show!

Fashion Fun

Hodges and Hodges are sending is sending you once more to that iconic superstore of the past Decades of Fashion. This store truly has it all when it comes to period piece outfits to fit any occasion. Located on Haight S.t in San Francisco, this is the place to go for 50s outfits.

Hamburgers and Milkshakes

Just around the corner from the Curran Theatre is Lori's Diner a nostalgic 50's style restaurant replete with "all things" 50s. It's open 24 hours so go before or after the show. Our other favorite of course is Mel's Drive-In, which really isn't a drive-in but a sit down restaurant featuring 50s-style "home-style cooking." With four different locations nestled within the city, you can't miss!

Head on Out to the Drive-In Movies

Even if you don't have a T-Bird what could be more fun than a good old-fashioned drive-in theatre? Grab a couple of cokes, some popcorn, and wrap your arm around your sweetheart at the West Wind Solano 2 Drive-In. Located in Concord, this nostalgic drive down memory lane will really take you back to a time when a promise ring and hand holding were important steps in every relationship; a simpler time with your girl or guy at the drive-in.

The Ricky Ricardo Orchestra

Looking for the Latin American flavor? Head on over to Antología , San Francisco's Latin American wine bar where the blend of Latin music and fine wine make for an incredible night out on the town. Located on Broadway St. in San Francisco, this Wednesday through Saturday venue with live music on Friday's is the place to be.

SF Television Bucket List

I Love Lucy was an iconic show that held a live studio audience to capture all the laughter and the fun. Many people don't know that there have been many television shows filmed or set here in San Francisco. Why not catch up with a few of your favorites before heading to the theatre. Full House, Charmed, MONK, Myth Busters, and The Streets of San Francisco are just some of the names of television shows here in the foggy city.

What to watch for from Nick - Many people don't believe that comedy is hard to do; that drama takes much more talent. Comedy is one of the hardest forms of entertainment there is. Look for that famous comedic timing that made I Love Lucy a smash success. Drama is easy, comedy is hard.

What to watch for from Linda - Nick's right. Comedy is really hard. Director Rick Sparks (who also co-adapted the show) will undoubtedly have studied vintage I Love Lucy footage to get an idea of their brilliant timing. What for the cadence, rhythm and pace of the show. If the timing of a joke is off even half-a-second, then it can fall flat. I'll be interested in listening for the quality of the original songs we'll be hearing.
