Hillbarn Theatre to Present PROOF, 3/12-29

By:

Hillbarn Theatre, the Peninsula's premier community theatre company, follows up on the success of their critically acclaimed 2014-2015 season with David Auburn's award-winning play, Proof. This critically acclaimed drama is an elegant and engaging story of obsession, intellect and family bonding. Twenty-five year old Catherine must establish the authorship of a mathematical proof found in the office of her brilliant but troubled father. Following his death, she must confront her volatile emotions along with the arrival of her estranged sister and a burgeoning romance with her father's former student. When all these forces come to a head, Catherine begins to question whether she's inherited her father's talent or his madness. Proof will run March 12 - March 29, 2015 at Hillbarn Theatre (1285 East Hillsdale Blvd., Foster City). Performances are Thursdays-Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Press night for Proof will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015. Single tickets range in price from $23 - $42 and are available now by calling 650.349.6411 ext. 2 or visiting www.hillbarntheatre.org.

Says Hillbarn Theatre Executive Artistic Director Dan Demers: "This Pulitzer prize and Tony Award winning narrative will grace the Hillbarn Stage in 'Act II' of our 74th season because of the shear artistic beauty and power of the piece. For years I have wanted to share David Auburn's work with the public. This play is rarely done and it's such a shame because the acting community and audiences fall in love with it as soon as they see it. Auburn's words lend to this beautiful exploration of intellect, self worth, individual identity and the beauty of the human experience. It is my hope is that audiences will experience the true power of this work, and have it touch their lives as it has touched mine."

Hillbarn Theatre's production of Proof features a cast of 4 actors led by Alicia Malone as Catherine, Brad Satterwhite as Hal, Cynthia Lagodzinksi as Claire and Steve Lambert as Robert.

The creative team for Proof, led by director Greg Fritsch, includes scenic designer Steve Nyberg, costume designer Mae Heagerty, stage manager Tim Niupalau, master carpenter Steve Nyberg, and properties designer Aya Matsutomo.

Hillbarn Theatre would like to acknowledge its 2014-15 company sponsors: Foster City Islander, Ghirardelli Chocolate Company, Peninsula Beauty and Penelope's Coffee & Tea.

Hillbarn Theatre closes its season 2014-2015, "A Season of Awakening," with the hit Kander and Ebb musical, Curtains (May 7 - 31, 2015). Partial subscriptions are still available for the remainder of the season by visiting hillbarntheatre.org/subscribe or calling 650.349.6411 ext. 2.
