By:

Due to overwhelming ticket sales and critical acclaim, Hillbarn Theatre has announced that an extra week of performances will be added to the current schedule of the 2014-2015 season opening performance of Funny Girl. Originally scheduled to close on Sunday, September 21, tickets are now on-sale through Sunday, September 28. Funny Girl will perform at Hillbarn Theatre (1285 East Hillsdale Blvd., Foster City). Performances are Thursdays-Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Single tickets range in price from $23 - $42 and are available now by calling 650.349.6411 ext. 2 or visiting www.hillbarntheatre.org.

Hillbarn Theatre, the Peninsula's premier community theatre company, kicks off its 2014-15 season opener with one of Broadway's musical theatre cornerstones, Funny Girl. From the streets of New York's Lower East Side to the bright lights of Broadway, Funny Girl kicks off Hillbarn Theatre's dynamic 2014-2015 season with the enduring and passionate rags-to-riches story of Fanny Brice - one of the most celebrated Vaudeville entertainers. Nominated for eight Tony Awards, Funny Girl takes theatergoers back to the Golden Age of Ziegfeld and the height of burlesque. With music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Bob Merrill and book by Isobel Lennart, Funny Girl features some of Broadway's most memorable tunes including "Don't Rain on My Parade," "People," "I'm the Greatest Star" and "You Are Woman, I Am Man."

Funny Girl features a cast of 19 actors led by Melissa WolfKlain* as Fanny Brice and William Giammona as Nick Arnstein. Joining them are Rachelle Abbey, Richard Ames, Christine Baker, Justin Buchs*, Jennifer Butler, Stephanie Case, Tracy Chiappone, Paige Collazo, Steven Ennis, Matt Gill, Dennis Lickteig, Emily Mannion, Jessica Maxey, Maureen O'Neill, Regina Quigley, Lauren Schneider and Jon Toussaint.

Hillbarn Theatre's production of Funny Girl is made possible by The Buljan Group. Hillbarn Theatre would like to acknowledge its 2014-15 company sponsors: Foster City Islander, Ghirardelli Chocolate Company, Peninsula Beauty and Penelope's Coffee & Tea.

Hillbarn Theatre's 2014-15 season, "A Season of Awakening," will feature three iconic plays and three hit musicals. In addition to Funny Girl, the productions include: The 39 Steps (October 16 - November 2, 2014), Irving Berlin's White Christmas (December 4 - 21, 2014), Amadeus (January 22 - February 8, 2015), Proof (March 12 - 29, 2015) and Curtains (May 7 - 31, 2015).
