HOW WE FIRST MET Plays the Herbst Theatre 2/13 & 2/14

By: Jan. 22, 2010

Audiences are invited to celebrate love in all its hilarious glory with HOW WE FIRST MET. Playing at Herbst Theatre on Valentine's Eve & Day (February 13 & 14, 2010), this enchanting one-of-a-kind hit comedy returns to San Francisco for a tenth smash year. For tickets ($25-40) and information, the public may call (415) 392-4400 or visit www.howwefirstmet.com.

It's a hilarious take on finding that special someone. Whether married for decades or newly dating, straight or gay, HOW WE FIRST MET is a unique Valentine's Day experience that thrills audiences around the world.

In HOW WE FIRST MET, couples are interviewed live while an improv ensemble recreates pivotal story moments with improvised sketches and songs. The show is the brainchild of San Francisco comedian Jill Bourque. She's is still amazed at the show's popularity, "HOW WE FIRST MET is truly about the audience. Frankly, I thought we'd heard it all, but these stories continue to surprise me."

Couples for the evening are chosen from online submissions and audience votes. Last year over 40 couples vied to tell their stories live in front of 900 strangers, and see their love life acted out on the spot.

What began as a one-time Valentine's Day show at San Francisco's Bayfront Theater in 2001 has since played in dozens of cities worldwide. Over the years, the show has featured a wide range of couples, gay, straight, liberal, conservative, married 50 years, and dating three weeks, all celebrating through laughter what makes love happen.

The show's talented improvisational actors are Laura Derry, Paul Erskine, Scott Keck, Deborah Wade, and keyboardist Jerome Rossen. The show is hosted by Jill Bourque.
