Feinstein's at the Nikko to Launch A Cappella Series
By: Tyler Peterson
Feinstein's at the Nikko is about to become aca-awesome as it celebrates the unaccompanied human voice with the Feinstein's at the Nikko A Cappella Series. With not an instrument in sight, the Feinstein's at the Nikko A Cappella Series will feature some of the San Francisco Bay Area's best and brightest a cappella groups. With the popularity of two-time Grammy Award winning a cappella group Pentatonix and the success of the blockbuster hit "Pitch Perfect 2," now is the time to get immersed in the world of a cappella. Tickets are available now by calling 866.663.1063 or visiting www.feinsteinsatthenikko.com.
Feinstein's at the Nikko kicks-off the series on Thursday, July 28 (8 p.m.) with Paradox Voice Band, a two-year-old professional a cappella band based in San Francisco. Featuring powerhouse Broadway and dance music diva Raquela, Paradox sings original arrangements and mash-ups of current Billboard Hot 100 hits, with influences from a wide variety of other musical genres, from classic rock to rap...and even opera! Paradox Voice Band features Fritz Lambandrake (tenor), Raquela (alto), Nisha Anand (soprano), DeAnne Reeder (soprano), McKaylee Todd (mezzo-soprano), Don Hoffman (bass), Deebo Baños (beatboxer/vocal percussionist), Jack Stehn (baritone), and Delwin "Beat Poet" Gutierrez (rapper). Tickets for Paradox Voice Band range in price from $25 - $45. For more information on Paradox Voice Band, visit: www.paradoxvoiceband.com. On Thursday, August 4 (8 p.m.), Feinstein's at the Nikko welcomes the award-winning a cappella group, Ro Sham Bo. Ro Sham Bo is a dynamic sextet singing original arrangements of jazz, Latin, and funk tunes, all a cappella. This award-winning group has been entertaining the Bay Area for two decades. In 2013, Ro Sham Bo took home the 1st place championship at the San Francisco Bay Area Regional Harmony Sweepstakes. Ro Sham Bo has performed to sold-out audiences at Anna's Jazz Island and the historic La Pena Cultural Center. You can also find them serenading listeners at the eclectic and personality filled Omega Salvage, the quirky Van Kleef bar in Uptown Oakland and at the family friendly Montclair Farmers Market. Ro Sham Bo features Bonnie Doyle (Soprano), Audrey Kauffman (Soprano II), Juliet Green (Alto), Dave Duran (Baritone), Seth Herring (Tenor), and Ryan Tomko (Bass). Tickets for Ro Sham Bo range in price from $25 - $45. For additional information on Ro Sham Bo, visit www.roshambosings.com.
