Feinstein's at the Nikko to Launch A Cappella Series

Feinstein's at the Nikko is about to become aca-awesome as it celebrates the unaccompanied human voice with the Feinstein's at the Nikko A Cappella Series. With not an instrument in sight, the Feinstein's at the Nikko A Cappella Series will feature some of the San Francisco Bay Area's best and brightest a cappella groups. Feinstein's at the Nikko kicks-off the series on Thursday, July 28 (8 p.m.) with Paradox Voice Band, a two-year-old professional a cappella band based in San Francisco. Featuring powerhouse Broadway and dance music diva Raquela, Paradox sings original arrangements and mash-ups of current Billboard Hot 100 hits, with influences from a wide variety of other musical genres, from classic rock to rap...and even opera! On Thursday, August 4 (8 p.m.), Feinstein's at the Nikko welcomes the award-winning a cappella group, Ro Sham Bo. Ro Sham Bo is a dynamic sextet singing original arrangements of jazz, Latin, and funk tunes, all a cappella. This award-winning group has been entertaining the Bay Area for two decades. In 2013, Ro Sham Bo took home the 1st place championship at the San Francisco Bay Area Regional Harmony Sweepstakes. Ro Sham Bo has performed to sold-out audiences at Anna's Jazz Island and the historic La Pena Cultural Center. On Wednesday, September 21 (7 p.m.), Feinstein's at the Nikko welcomes two award-winning a cappella groups - Business Casual and Prime Time. Formed in 2012, vocal band Business Casual is rapidly becoming a fixture in the Bay Area vocal music scene. As their name suggests, Business Casual combines unexpected musical styles to produce fresh a cappella versions of vintage chart toppers and today's hits. Featuring powerful leads, floor thumping bass, and sizzling beats, you won't believe that this group is using only their voices! Business Casual explores a wide range of genres including funk, folk, pop, soul, swing, and R&B, guaranteeing that there is something for everyone in their energetic, all-ages shows. On Thursday, October 13 (8 p.m.), Feinstein's at the Nikko welcomes The Singing Bois and The Jeanettes. The Singing Bois is a queer pop quartet based in Oakland. Part boy band, part Rat Pack, they create spaces for masculine-of-center and POC musicians within new and classic styles such as R&B, soul, rock, jazz, and Latin genres. Twisting gender expectations, they blend musical precision, playful staging, and sexy swagger. Known for their unique interpretations of songs by everyone from Sam Cooke to Selena, The Singing Bois make audible a range of masculinities and tell queer, butch, and trans stories through song. They have performed at a variety of Bay Area venues including El Rio, SOMArts, Studio Grand, Galleria de la Raza, MAPP, UC Santa Cruz, The Women's Building, the Fresh Meat Festival (2015 & 2016), and the National Queer Arts Festival (2016). The Singing Bois features Rhonda Kinard, Terezia Orosz, Erin Raber, and Tamara Roberts. The Jeanettes are a Bay Area vocal quartet harmonizing to retro hits from iconic artists of the 1950's and 60's such as the Shirelles, the Marvelettes, and the Chordettes. Located within Hotel Nikko (222 Mason Street, San Francisco), Feinstein's at the Nikko presents a wide range of entertainers from stage and screen all within an intimate 140-seat cabaret setting. There is a $20 food and beverage minimum per person inside the showroom which guests can use towards cocktails as well as a variety of small plates crafted exclusively for Feinstein's at the Nikko, through Restaurant Anzu. Cheese and dessert platters will also be available in the showroom.

Kanpai Lounge, located in Hotel Nikko's lobby, offers light cuisine, a full bar and specialty cocktails. Restaurant Anzu, Hotel Nikko's intimate restaurant located on the second floor, serves sustainable California cuisine enhanced with Asian flavors. Restaurant Anzu will also offer Feinstein's at the Nikko guests a special three-course prix-fixe dinner ($45 per person) prior to all performances.
