Eden Espinosa makes her debut at The Rrazz Room in the Hotel Nikko, 222 Mason St., San Francisco, Dec 7 at 8 PM. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at 866 468 3399 or at www.therrazzroom.com.
Eden Espinosa, the original Broadway standby for the role of Elphaba in Wicked, played the green-skinned witch in the national tour's San Francisco stop a few years ago and has just completed the starring role in the long running LA production. A southern California native, she began performing at five and recording at ten. As a child, Ms. Espinosa put on living room performances and directed her relatives when to applaud. She also sang in her pastor father's nondenominational church choir.

Several of Eden's relatives performed in Disneyland's variety shows and would take Ms. Espinosa backstage. (Her cousin played Mickey Mouse and Minnie there.) Her first singing job was as a Christmas caroler in a Disney parade. She never had professional voice or acting lessons, but doing five or six half-hour stage shows a day at Disneyland - sometimes outdoors in cold, rainy weather - provided boot camp vocal training.

She made her Broadway debut covering the roles of Elphaba and Nessarose in Wicked, then went on to rave reviews in the leading role in Brooklyn, The Musical on Broadway. She was nominated for a Drama League Award for Distinguished Performance. She also appeared on Broadway in Rent. This year she opened a solo show at Joe's Pub and is recording her first album.
