EDUCATING RITA Takes Covina Center Stage, Now thru 6/3
A limited engagement of Educating Rita comes to Covina Center for the Performing arts beginning tonight, May 18. Directed by Christopher Diehl and starring Melissa Brandzel as Rita and John Catanzaro as Frank, the show runs through June 3.
Susan (who initially calls herself Rita) dissatisfied with the routine of her work and social life, seeks inner growth by signing up for and attending an Open University Course in English Literature. Dr. Frank Bryant is a middle aged, alcoholic career academic who has taken on the tutorship to pay for his drink. The two have an immediate and profound effect on one another. Frank is impressed by Susan's verve and earnestness and is forced to re-examine his attitudes and position in life. Susan finds Frank's tutelage opens doors to a bohemian lifestyle and a new self confidence.
SCHEDULE: May 18, 19, June 1, 2 at 8:00pm AND May 20 and June 3 at 2:00pm.
Tickets are $23/$33 and can be purchased here.
