Dragon Productions Theatre And Fuse Theatre To Co-Produce A New Redwood City Play Festival In June 2019

Dragon Productions Theatre Company and Fuse Theatre are proud to announce a joint one act play festival in Redwood City beginning this summer. The Redwood City Play Festival will combine the strengths of both companies to produce one act plays and events centered around a central social justice theme and will highlight local artists.

This year's theme is on gender-based topics, or "Gender Shorts." The catalogue of plays, playwrights, directors and schedule will be available within the next 30 days.

Dragon Theatre and Fuse Theatre, both based in Redwood City, both offer unique theatre programming in the community. The Redwood City Play Festival is their first joint production. Kimberly Wadycki, Managing Director at Dragon Theatre, said "We have been wanting to do something together for years. A new play written, directed and developed by Fuse Theatre was a great complement for plays we were considering and combining the plays into one event was an ideal fit."

Stacey Ardelean, Founding Artistic Director at Fuse Theatre added, "our companies have a common interest in social justice and promoting theatre in the local community. Working together just makes sense."

The companies are planning to make this an annual event to showcase Bay Area talent that sparks discussion of a thought-provoking topic.The festival will run June 8-16th, at the Dragon Theatre facility in downtown Redwood City. Special events, discussions, and visual arts galleries will be set up around the city to encourage visitors to explore downtown and to complement their festival experience.

ABOUT DRAGON PRODUCTIONS THEATRE COMPANY: Founded in 1999, Dragon's mission is to produce professional theatre that is uncommon, intimate, and accessible to its audiences, artists, and community. Initially itinerant, Dragon opened its first theatre in Palo Alto where it lived for six years.
