Cinnabar Theater to Host GERSHWIN IN THE GARDEN Concert with Denise Perrier, 9/15

By:

Cinnabar Theater, the beloved professional theater in Sonoma County, invites audiences to an exquisite outdoor concert on Saturday, September 15. Enter the sumptuous garden of an exclusive Petaluma estate to hear renowned vocalist Denise Perrier sing the immortal tunes of George and Ira Gershwin backed by an elegant orchestra. Then linger with the artists by the pond and savor the flavor of this memorable music over a delicious barbecue.

Held on the grounds of a gorgeous home at 200 Queens Lane in Petaluma, Gershwin in the Garden begins at 4 p.m. Tickets for the concert are only $25 - or enjoy the concert and attend the subsequent dinner for just $50. The dinner menu includes grilled chicken, beef, and vegetables as well as salads, desserts, and more. Fruit and cheese plates are also on sale during the concert.

America's favorite songwriting team, George and Ira Gershwin wrote hundreds of tunes together, collaborated on more than two dozen films and Broadway shows, and elevated popular music to a new level of sophistication. Their hits have endured for nearly a century, including "Embraceable You," "I Got Rhythm," "Someone to Watch Over Me," "S'Wonderful," and "They Can't Take That Away from Me." Their irresistible songs continue to seduce listeners around the world.

Blessed with a rich contralto voice, Denise Perrier has been heard at prestigious venues throughout the U.S., Latin America, Europe, and Asia. Featured on the Grammy-nominated CD "Color Me Blue," she has also produced several recordings that reflect her world travels. These albums have climbed the jazz charts and garnered critical acclaim, so that Perrier is now known as "the voice with a heart" for her unparalleled ability to connect with audiences.

Her eight-piece orchestra for this event showcases many talented local musicians. Led by celebrated pianist Tammy Hall, the ensemble includes Terry Baune (violin), Gwyneth Davis (cello), Jack Dorsey (percussion), Beth Heid (viola), Erich Hunt (bass), and Heidi Trefethen (French horn).

A benefit for Cinnabar Theater, Gershwin in the Garden also features a silent auction of premium wines, handcrafted art, gift certificates for gourmet dinners, and other luxuries. Every year, Cinnabar produces a thrilling mix of plays, musicals, operas, and concerts in a remarkable range of genres. The non-profit also offers extensive activities for local youth, and its Cinnabar Singers welcome anyone who wants to be part of a chorus.
