Christmas Revels Present 'THE KING AND THE FOOL'
The Christmas Revels, A Theatrical Celebration of the Winter Solstice, featuring special guest artist - Geoff Hoyle, and directed by David Parr, presented by the California Revels.
The 23rd annual Christmas Revels returns to medieval Europe with a brand new staging of The King and the Fool.The California Revels have, for two decades, pioneered an exceptional form of musical theatre that holds something special for the whole family, and for the community-at-large.
The Christmas Revels is an incomparable holiday show that observes the longest night of the year – the winter solstice – with a blend of ancient folk rituals, songs and dances from a diverse cultural canvas. The result is a celebratory theatrical production. One doesn’t just “go to” the Revels; one participates in a wholly unique experience that is a fundamental part of the Bay Area holiday calendar.
The Christmas Revels is steeped in the creation of sacred moments and kinship amongst strangers. At the Revels, the audience is asked to not only hear the music, but to make music, and to leave their seats to dance through the aisles!
Perfromances are from December 12 – 14 and 19 – 21, 2008, Fridays @ 7:30pm; Saturdays and Sundays at 1:00pm and 5:00pm at the Scottish Rite Theater (1547 Lakeside Drive, Oakland CA.)
Wheelchair seating is available.
TICKETS: $15 – $50 general
Special prices! On opening night, Dec. 12 and on Sunday Dec. 14 at 5pm, all SIDE DRESS CIRCLE AND CENTER BALCONY SEATS are $19.
For all shows - side balconies are $19 adults/ $15 senior, youth during the run.
