California Shakespeare's Claire Stormer Honored As 'Local Hero' By Bank of America
California Shakespeare Theater is proud to announce that Claire Stoermer, the Theater's long-time house manager and a Bay Area educator, has been named a "Local Hero" by Bank of America at a recent ceremony at the historic Oakland Rotunda in downtown Oakland. The award, part of the bank's Neighborhood Excellence Initiative, recognizes individuals who contribute significantly to the health of their communities, and includes a $5000 donation which each Local Hero is able to direct from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation to an eligible nonprofit of their choice. She has chosen Cal Shakes' Artistic Learning programs as her beneficiary.
"While Claire's work at Cal Shakes has kept her out of the spotlight, we are thrilled that the Bank of America Charitable Foundation is giving her the recognition she so richly deserves," commented Cal Shakes Managing Director Susie Falk. "It is only due to the conviction of teachers like Claire that we are able to keep arts education alive in the schools; her students are so fortunate to have her as their advocate. We thank Bank of America for recognizing one of our own, and thank Claire for this generous gift."
