Prepare for a HONKing good family experience when Hans Christian Andersen's classic tale of "The Ugly Duckling" - set to music and performed by the Rising Star casts ages 10-14 - comes to Children's Musical Theater San Jose July 10 through 19, 2009.

This wonderful, warm-hearted and colorful story is directed by Lindsey O'Connell and choreographed by Alex Acevedo. It's not just children who will leave the theater uplifted, singing and happy - it's children of all ages.

"Warmth, joy, lessons learned, and great music - this is a show for the entire family," said CMT Artistic Director Kevin Hauge. "We are so proud to have Lindsey O'Connell and Alex Acevedo working with the cast for this show. The actors are having a wonderful experience and it translates to the audience in every performance."

HONK! is the story we all know and love. Poor Ugly! When he's hatched, all he can do is make a strange "honk" sound instead of a "quack!" Every child in the audience will understand how that feels - especially when the barnyard animals taunt and tease Ugly for being different.

Then, Ugly goes on a search for his mother - a search full of adventures - and finds that he is not ugly at all - but valued and valuable and wonderful.

The show has become a perpetual favorite, winning hearts and awards. It has also received three Best Musical awards: the 2000 Laurence Olivier Award, The FNB Award in South Africa and the Elliot Norton Award in the USA.

It's a delightful production by one of Silicon Valley's most valuable assets, the Children's Musical Theater San Jose.

For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.cmtsj.org or call (408) 792-4111. Tickets can be purchased in person at the SJTIX box office located inside the San Jose Convention Center, Monday through Friday 9 a.m. - 5 pm or at the Montgomery Theater one hour prior to performances.
