Contra Costa Civic Theatre (CCCT) continues its 55th season with John Patrick Shanley's Pulitzer Prize winner, Doubt: A Parable, directed by Daren A.C. Carollo, playing weekends from tonight, February 13 through March 8, 2015.

Doubt: A Parable presents a gripping tale set in a Bronx Catholic school in 1964. A young progressive priest, Father Flynn, is working to modernize the school's strict customs, placing him into direct conflict with the authoritarian principal of the school, Sister Aloysius. When Sister James, a young teacher at the school, shares with Sister Aloysius her suspicion that Father Flynn has met secretly with one of the students, the principal's suspicious nature leads her to believe the worst. Armed with moral certainty she begins crusading to remove Flynn from the school, and if possible, the priesthood. Now Flynn and Aloysius find themselves locked in an epic battle that threatens to destroy the church and school they both serve.

This tale reaches beyond the obvious connections to recent issues within the Catholic Church and expands the story to examine the rationale behind personal motivations and the shades of grey present in the relationship between any two people. In addition to winning the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Doubt: A Parable also won the 2005 Tony Award for Best Play, the 2005 Drama Desk Award for Best New Play, and the 2005 New York Drama Circle's Best Play award.

The cast for CCCT's production includes Scarlett Hepworth as Sister Aloysius, Steve Rhyne as Father Flynn, Mikkel Simons as Sister James, and Kimberly Ridgeway as Mrs. Muller.

The design team includes Kuo-Hao Lo (set design), Lisa Danz (costume design), Hamilton Guillén (lighting design), Michael Kelly (sound design), and Devon LaBelle (props). The production is stage managed by Georgia Benedict.

Adult tickets are $22 in advance, or $28 at the door; youth tickets for ages 16 and under are $11 in advance, or $15 at the door. Discounts are available for groups of 15 or more.
