Berkeley Repertory Theatre welcomes Tim Etheridge to the role of public relations director, replacing Voleine Amilcar, effective immediately. Etheridge comes to Berkeley Rep with a background in communications, emphasizing public relations.

For the past several years, Etheridge has worked as a freelance publicist committed to representing the work of many acclaimed, local and first time filmmakers in various Bay Area film festivals including: San Francisco International, San Francisco Black and United Nations Association. During this time the combined festivals screened over 1,000 films and reached audiences of more than 250,000.

Prior to his film festival work, Etheridge was the director of communications for Project Open Hand where he led the team that navigated the agency as they expanded their mission and brand. In addition, he has worked as a communications consultant for various nonprofit community organizations in the Bay Area.

"Tim brings with him great enthusiasm for theatre and knowledge of the local and national media landscape," stated Polly Winograd Ikonen, Berkeley Rep's director of marketing, communications, and patron engagement. "I know he will be a marvelous addition the Berkeley Rep family, and an effective and conscientious colleague for the Bay Area press corps."

Berkeley Repertory Theatre has grown from a storefront stage to an international leader in innovative theatre. Known for its core values of imagination and excellence, as well as its educated and adventurous audience, the nonprofit has provided a welcoming home for emerging and established artists since 1968. In four decades, four million people have enjoyed more than 300 shows at Berkeley Rep. These shows have gone on to win five Tony Awards, seven Obie Awards, nine Drama Desk Awards, one Grammy Award, and many other honors. In recognition of its place on the national stage, Berkeley Rep received the Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre in 1997. Its bustling facilities -- the 600-seat Roda Theatre, the 400-seat Thrust Stage, the Berkeley Rep School of Theatre, the Osher Studio, and a spacious new campus in West Berkeley -- are helping revitalize a renowned city.
