Bay Area Cabaret presents Broadway star and Olivier Award nominee Sierra Boggess in her brand new, critically acclaimed show, Finding the Balance (The Journey Of The Middle Child.) Broadway knows her as Ariel in The Little Mermaid, Christine Daae in The Phantom of the Opera, and as aspiring opera star Sharon Graham in Master Class. London knows her for her Olivier Award-nominated performance in Love Never Dies and Fantine in Les Miserables. Sierra Boggess will return to Broadway in the spring of 2015 in the new musical It Shoulda Been You alongside Tyne Daly, directed by David Hyde Pierce. Bay Area Cabaret presents Sierra Boggess, with musical director Brian Hertz and cellist Summer Boggess, at 5pm, Sunday December 7, 2014 in the Venetian Room of the Fairmont San Francisco, 950 Mason Street, atop Nob Hill, San Francisco. For tickets ($50 general/$30 under 30 w/ID) visit www.bayareacabaret.org or call (415) 392-4400.

Musical from the start, Sierra Boggess has been singing ever since she was a little girl in her hometown choir in Denver CO. She began her professional theatre career in the US tour of Les Miserables, which led to the role of Christine in The Phantom of the Opera (Las Vegas production) and then made her Broadway debut as Ariel in The Little Mermaid, for which she was nominated for Drama Desk and Drama League Awards for Best Actress in a Musical. Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber chose her to reprise her role as Christine in the Phantom sequel Love Never Dies, for which she was nominated for an Olivier Award, and she performed the role again for the 25th Anniversary concert of The Phantom of the Opera at The Royal Albert Hall in London. She recently returned to Broadway to star in The Phantom of the Opera, opposite Norm Lewis. Other works include the Encores! concert production of Music in the Air opposite Kristin Chenoweth, the Broadway revival of Master Class, co-starring Tyne Daly, and the Off-Broadway play Love, Loss and What I Wore by Nora and Delia Ephron. Ms. Boggess released her first solo album, Awakening: Live At 54 Below, in 2013.

In Finding the Balance (The Journey Of The Middle Child), Sierra Boggess takes the audience on an exploration of her life as the middle child, always trying to find balance in the "in between." Through song, stories and her favorite quotes she offers a view of the world as the one neither first nor last, oldest or baby, but balanced in the middle. Of a recent performance in New York's 54 Below, The New York Times praised her "mischievous sense of humor" and wrote, "Ms. Boggess ... stands out against the competition. [She] has a voice that unfolds in layers." It went on to hail "Her sparkling, bouncy rendition of 'If They Could See Me Now' summed up the awe of an American performer from Denver who had stumbled into a fairy tale kingdom." Ms. Boggess will make her Venetian Room debut with this performance.

Bay Area Cabaret (BAC) is a not-for profit organization founded by Marilyn Levinson, a fifth generation San Francisco native. Through its concert series and wide-ranging outreach activities, BAC aims to expand the definition of cabaret and broaden the audience for intimate entertainment, featuring Great American Songbook offerings from George and Ira Gershwin and Stephen Sondheim to Antonio Carlos Jobim and Joni Mitchell. Past seasons have featured Marvin Hamlisch, Elaine Paige, Chita Rivera, Tommy Tune, Norm Lewis, Barbara Cook, Peter Gallagher, Nellie McKay, Alan and Marilyn Bergman, Jane Monheit, and Karen Mason.

The 2014-2015 Bay Area Cabaret season resumes in 2015 with a rare San Francisco appearance by Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist Stacey Kent on February 1, 2015 performing selections from her new bossa nova album The Changing Lights. On Saturday February 28 and Sunday, March 1, Grammy Hall of Fame singer/songwriter Judy Collins returns with a brand new show, dedicated to the work of Stephen Sondheim whose song, "Send in the Clowns" was named "Song of the Year" after Ms. Collins performed it at the 1976 Grammy Awards. Jazz history will be made on Saturday, March 21, when multiple-Grammy-winning pianist/composer Ramsey Lewis makes his first Venetian Room appearance in three decades, with Grammy-nominated vocalist and guitarist John Pizzarelli, in a tribute to Venetian Room regular Nat King Cole. The Tony-nominated Broadway and television star Annaleigh Ashford (Masters of Sex, Tony nomination, Kinky Boots, You Can't Take it with You) will make her West Coast cabaret debut on Sunday, April 19. Bay Area Cabaret's season concludes with two shows on Sunday, May 31: the cabaret debut of rising Broadway star Bobby Conte Thornton at 5pm, and a new highly acclaimed new cabaret show by Tony winner Lillias White with musical direction by Billy Stritch at 8pm.

All shows are presented in the historic Venetian Room at the Fairmont San Francisco. Tickets to most shows are $50 ($45 subscribers), with no food or drink minimum required. Subscribers who purchase six shows receive both substantial ticket discounts and reserved seats, and are allowed to exchange tickets among shows. For patrons of Bay Area Cabaret, the Fairmont Hotel offers a lavish buffet supper in the Laurel Court for $44 (plus tax and tip), plus free parking for all who dine in the Laurel Court.

Tickets for individual concerts are available at www.bayareacabaret.org or by phone at City Box Office (415) 392-4400. Subscriptions and discounts for groups of 8 or more are available directly from Bay Area Cabaret at (415) 927-4636.
