"Love. Love changes everything- how you live and how you die." Those lyrics could not be more profound. It's simple. Love does conquer all. Fourth of July Morgan (Karr) and I laid on blankets, under the stars in the middle of a field after the firework display and spoke of love; how it hurts, how scary it is, how confusing it can be, how amazing it is when you have it, and how hard it is to continue believing in the power of it. One thing we both agreed on is how it can change everything, even the world. Love can make you feel like you're flying. We all want it. We all need it. It is an intrinsic part of our lives. I don't believed I've loved as hard or as strong in my life. Transcendence took me there!
My time in at Transcendence was incredible. I'll never forget it. It won't ever be repeated or recreated. It was perfect in all of its insanity, brilliance, and perfection. We do it because we love it! I often say, "I love, love." I do. I want every choice to be based in it. Am I taking this job because I love it? Am I going to dinner with this person because I love them or excited about learning about who they are or because I feel obligated? Do I love myself enough? Transcendence challenged me with all of these questions and more. I really pushed myself to search more an dig deeper during my time there. Some questions were answered, some not, but the more important reality is that I'm not afraid any more. I'm not afraid to try. I'm not afraid to love all of me or ask myself those questions. Q. you just finished a Broadway gig, you're reality is that you may have to go out and get a "real job" now to pay the bills and that's okay if i do. As long as I'm happy doing it and touching others and being my best self, that's all that matters. Whether it's on Broadway, babysitting, or working at Starbucks Taylor, the Latte Boy, I'm going to Transcend my life!! This theatre company is kind of like crack. No, I have never done it. Actually , never mind. I have no idea where that was going. Below, you'll see a picture that I captured on the 4th. To me, we artists, are like the small sparks and together, we we light up the world. Performing on such land (Jack London State Park) with such purpose and with extraordinary people....my cup overflowed.
I know this blog is kind of all over the place, but it's quite impossible to put into words what I experienced there. Whoever may be reading this, I challenge you just as Transcendence Theatre Company challenged me, to go out there and fight for what you believe in. Look for the clues in your life that will lead you to your destiny. Finish what you start. "Be a peaceful warrior," as Stephen (Stubbins)encouraged us to be. "You're not as good as you're going to be," as Morgan stated during our our Artist discussion. Amy (Miller) challenged us with the question, "What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail?" Aren't you curious?
Thank you Transcendence! Have a wonderful season. I'm on your side.
With an exploding heart,

4th Of July-This is what we are. Small atoms ready to explode and set the world on fire!

Morgan Karr (c), and his lovely host family Susan Skinner and Bob Heisterberg. They threw a 4th of July party at their home for us that was like nothing you've ever seen!

Bet you can't guess which one I am! :) My host family attending the Kenwood 4th of July pancake breakfast and parade. Catherine Moylan and Dave Jefferson- soon to be married. Thanks for everything Mom and Dad!

Catherine makes her own red wine with best friend Dody. They passed out free glasses of their tasty homemade wine at the parade. Who does that?! Only in Sonoma.

This is Kaz. He owns Kaz's Winery which is all organic in every way. He's the coolest kid in class and hosts lots of Transcendence functions, such as "Skits Under the Stars". We love KAZ!

I'm really going to work you guys. I promise (wink-wink). Headed into Kaz's for "Skits Under the Stars" where sweetest wedding proposal took place that night.

On my day off my host mother, Catherine, took me to see the magnificent red woods in Armstrong Park. Breathtaking.
