BATS' Summer Improv Festival to Celebrate 20th Anniversary

By:

BATS Improv, the largest and longest-running Improv Theatre and school in Northern California, celebrates the 20th anniversary of their BATS' Summer Improv Festival with a special, super-sized anniversary edition! Every weekend (Friday and Saturday nights), the BATS Main Stage Company takes the stage with a different show displaying their hilarious, award-winning brand of improvised theatre with completely improvised musicals, stage plays, 'films,' 'TV shows,' and more. This year's festival includes the debut of five original NEW shows from BATS Main Stage Company - Improvised Prison Drama (separate Men's and Women's editions), Improvised Epic Brecht Musical, Pulp Playhouse, San Francisco Secrets, and Improvised Game of Thrones. BATS 20th Annual Summer Improv Festival runs Fridays and Saturdays from August 1 - September 20 (view full schedule below) at the Bayfront Theater - B350 Fort Mason Center, San Francisco, 94123. All show performances start at 8pm. Tickets are $17 general admission, $20 at the door for most shows. Purchase a special six-pack of tickets and save $30 off the door price. Tickets are available through the BATS website www.improv.org or by phone (415) 474-6776. For more information, visit www.improv.org/special/summer-festival

"We are extremely proud of our milestone year with the Summer Improv Festival," said Kasey Klemm, BATS Improv Artistic Director. "Our Company is excited to continue pushing the envelope of improvised theatre and deliver new original shows that we feel are going to resonate with Bay Area audiences. We are also very excited to be performing the 25th anniversary of Improvised Shakespeare which has always been a fan favorite since 1989."

The Festival opens with the return of the popular "Improvised Downton Abbey" (which concluded a two month sold-out debut this past February) and ends with the new fantasy dramedy "Improvised Game of Thrones." The center piece of the festival is BATS most anticipated show of the year: the annual "SF vs. LA Theatresports Grudge Match" where BATS Improv, SF takes on their talented rivals from Impro Theatre, LA.
