Marker Seven, an award-winning boutique interactive agency proudly announced it received an Award of Excellence in the 15th Annual Communicator Awards for its work managing the organization and design of San Francisco's prestigious American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) website.

The Communicator Awards recognize creative excellence for communications professionals around the world. This year, the program received over 7,000 entries from ad agencies, interactive agencies, production firms, in-house creative professionals, graphic designers, design firms, and public relations firms.

"The A.C.T. website is a great tool for the A.C.T. community and our audience to connect through blogs, podcasts, and visual materials, from online videos and costume renderings to our in-depth Words on Plays articles," says Janette Andrawes, A.C.T.'s Director of Marketing and Communications. "The A.C.T. community is all-inclusive from students under 18 in our Young Conservatory to nationally recognized artists on our mainstage, from 40-year patrons to first-time theatergoers. Marker Seven's redesign of our website has made it possible for us to broaden A.C.T.'s reach into all portions of our large and varied community."

"The American Conservatory Theater is one of America's most respected regional theaters, and it was an honor for us to be selected to architect and design the organization's presence online," says John Clauss, Marker Seven president. "Receiving an award for our work with A.C.T. adds to the already gratifying experience for our firm."

A.C.T. nurtures the art of live theater through dynamic productions, intensive actor training in its conservatory, and an ongoing dialogue with its audience and its community. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Carey Perloff and Executive Director Heather Kitchen, A.C.T. embraces its responsibility to conserve, renew, and reinvent the rich theatrical traditions that are our collective legacy, while exploring new artistic forms and new communities. Commitment to the highest standards informs every aspect of A.C.T.'s creative work. Founded in 1965 by William Ball, A.C.T. opened its first San Francisco season at the Geary Theater in 1967. In the 1970s, A.C.T. solidified its national and international reputation, winning a Tony Award for outstanding theater performance and training in 1979. During the past three decades, more than 300 A.C.T. productions have been performed to a combined audience of seven million people; today, A.C.T.'s performance, education, and outreach programs annually reach more than 250,000 people in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 1996, A.C.T.'s efforts to develop creative talent for the theater were recognized with the prestigious Jujamcyn Theaters Award. Today A.C.T. is nationally recognized for its groundbreaking productions of classical works and bold explorations of contemporary playwriting. Since the reopening of the American Conservatory Theater (formerly the Geary) in 1996, A.C.T. has enjoyed a remarkable period of audience expansion and renewed financial stability. The company continues to produce challenging theater in the rich context of symposia, audience discussions, and community interaction.
