6th Street Playhouse Presents THE PRODUCERS, 6/15-7/15

6th Street Playhouse presents "The Producers" with book and music by Mel Brooks, lyrics and libretto by Thomas Meehan and Mel Brooks.

The Broadway musical version of "The Producers," based on the Mel Brooks' 1968 film, follows theater producer Max Bialystock and accountant Leo Bloom as they sing and dance their way down Broadway awaiting the cash windfall of their new musical, a sure-to-flop production of "Springtime for Hitler." Their scam fails when the show is heralded a Broadway hit.

"The Producers" earned 12 Tony Awards in 2001 including "Best Musical" and "Best Original Score."

After its Broadway opening on April 19, 2001 "The Producers" broke the record for the largest single day box-office ticket sales in theater history, taking in more than $3 million. When it was announced that Broadway stars Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick from the original production would reprise their roles for a limited run from December 2003 to April 2004, the show broke its own record selling over $3.5 million in single day.

6th Street's production is directed by Craig Miller, with musical direction by Janis Wilson and choreography by Vicki Suemnicht. The show runs June 15 to July 15, 2012 according to the following schedule: 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays; 2 p.m. Sundays - June 17 to July 15, 2012; 2 p.m. Saturdays - June 30, July 7 and July 14, 2012.
